Windsor is the southernmost city in Canada and is located across from Detroit, Michigan. Perhaps it comes as no surprise then that its economy is largely based on the automotive industry. However, this city is far from being a steel town and offers you many wonderful activities, sites and places to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Ojibway Park, Jack Miner Bird Sanctuary and Point Pelee National Park all provide bird watchers with ample opportunities to find many species in their natural habitats. There are also great trails and beautiful flora that thrive in this rich soil. Odette Sculpture Park offers you a different kind of scenery. Located along the Detroit River you can see over 30 huge sculptures all designed by famous artists. There are also many nice walkways found throughout the city.
Windsor attracts those who are feeling a little lucky. The impressive Casino Windsor draws thousands of guests every year whether they want to play the games, enjoy fine dining or watch great entertainment. If you prefer the theatre, make your way to Mackenzie Hall. Windsor also knows how to celebrate. Together with Detroit, Windsor puts on a great celebration marking both Countries birthdays where you will be able to enjoy great fireworks and other events.
Its location also made it a key entry point for slaves fleeing towards freedom along the Underground Railroad and a huge liquor supplier during the American Prohibition. You never know what tunnels you might find and where they might take you. Wherever you decide to go, Windsor welcomes you to explore it all.
