The 495-room Crowne Plaza Atlanta Perimeter at Ravinia is an impressive 15-story hotel set in forested grounds with a waterfall and stream. This is a full-service property catering mainly to business clients but equally suited for the family on vacation. Items included in the room rate are high speed Internet access, parking, morning newspaper delivered to the room and a shuttle service to the nearby MARTA – the city’s rapid transit system – station. The hotel has 22 meeting rooms all on one level which can handle business and social functions for up to 1,100 people. The property is close to Atlanta’s expressway system making it an easy drive to all of the city and area attractions.

This imposing hotel gets high marks for polite and helpful staff from those who have stayed here. Many said the food – both in the restaurant and from room service – was better than they had expected. There were some complaints that some of the accommodation is now in need of refurbishment. All the rooms and 30 suites have a work desk with free high speed Internet access. Other amenities include cable television with cable movie channels and pay-per-view movies and video games, CD player, hairdryer, two-line telephone with voice mail and speaker phone, and coffee and tea making facilities. There are 16 handicapped accessible rooms.

The hotel has three restaurants on-site and there are numerous eating spots nearby. The hotel’s Bistro 55 offers buffets for breakfast and lunch with views over the Ravinia Gardens. Sylvia’s on the lobby level is a coffee shop and La Grotta, open for lunch and dinner, serves northern Italian cuisine from a show kitchen. Room service is available from 6am until 1am. The hotel has a modern fitness center which includes an indoor swimming pool and cardiovascular equipment. The facility is open from 5am until 11pm. The 24-hour front desk has safe deposit boxes and there are ice machines, an ATM, gift shop and newsstand on-site.

From Atlanta-Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL): Take I-85 North through downtown Atlanta, take GA 400 North (exit 87, toll road .50 cents). Go north to I-285 EAST (Exit 4A). Proceed to Exit 29, turn left on Ashford-Dunwoody Rd and cross the bridge. The Crowne Plaza Ravinia will be on your right.
