The Ameritania Hotel is situated on the west side, near the Theater District. The 54th St. area is home to many residences, and is near the entrance to Central Park. Glamorous, exciting Fifth Avenue shopping awaits travelers as they wander from Henri Bendel's to Prada and Harry Winston. Several subway lines in the area run twenty four hours a day, so getting around is not a hassle. Tourists can also visit the Time Warner Building, home of luxe Japanese restaurant Nobu, or they can take in Trump Tower. The Ameritania Hotel is also close to the Museum of Modern Art. There is a fine mix of dining choices in the area, but those seeking nightlife and revelry will have to take their search further downtown. Then again, guests can visit the Twist Lounge for a nightcap instead.

The Ameritania is adequate for the money. For travelers looking for luxury and amenities, this may not be the place for you. The rooms are well tended and the location excellent, but it's not as much of a pampering experience as some other city options may be. Once again, though, it's a good value for the money. The biggest plus is the convenience factor, which is useful for those with children. There's much to do in that neighborhood, and Central Park is nearby. This hotel is newly renovated, with art nouveau style furnishings and decor. The Ameritania is 219 rooms in both smoking and non smoking options. For business travelers looking to use business services, there's a Kinko's across the street to fulfill faxing and copy needs. The hotel also has complimentary access to a nearby fitness center.

The Ameritania doesn't have a huge list of amenities, but they do offer some items for guest comfort. Included in each modern room is a color TV with cable, marble bathroom, CD player, wakeup service, complimentary coffee, and a copy of the Financial Times Monday through Friday.
