What better sport could winter possibly provide? Anyone who claims to be a ski enthusiast or even a relaxed snow bunny knows how addicting this sport can be. Although most of these mountains can be explored when the snow is melted, nothing beats seeing them cloaked in their white splendor. Some of our mountains are skier and boarder friendly whereas others are designated towards one or the other. Either way, if you love to carve out your trail, powder and fresh mountain air, you will love our Top Ten Ski/Snowboard Destinations.
Banff
The Banff area is found in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. One of the many reasons why snow enthusiasts love coming to Banff is because you can actually hit three terrains in one vacation. Whether you spend time at Sunshine Village, Ski Banff at Norquay or Lake Louise, you will find the perfect trail... or trails.

Big Sky

However, there are also a good number of runs for those who are just starting out. Together with Moonlight Basin you can purchase one lift ticket but enjoy both ski destinations. Between the two, you can ski over 5,000 acres of trails. Talk about getting your money's worth.

Jackson Hole
There are over 2,500 acres of trails for you to explore in Jackson Hole. Couple that with an annual snowfall of over 450 inches and you have one fantastic ski destination. Mammoth Mountain is a fantastic place to explore a different side of California. You will have a lot of ground to cover while skiing and snow boarding here. Plus, Mammoth Mountain has a very long ski season, giving you plenty of time to come back again and again. Just don't forget your sunblock and sunglasses. The Californian sun still shines close to 300 days a year... raccoon eyes anyone?

Alta Ski Area
Skiing in Utah is a must for anyone who loves the sport and Alta is one of its best. Although there are great runs for the beginners, the pros will love skiing Alta's challenging trails. Plus, the added bonus for skiing in Alta is that it won't take a mortgage payment to bring your family here... unless your mortgage is for a one bedroom. Sorry boarders, you will have to sit this mountain out as it is currently designated only for skiers.

Stowe Mountain Resort
The Stowe Mountain Resort is one of the most beautiful places to enjoy skiing. The trails are well taken care of, which makes it easier for you to focus in on your technique. The night skiing on Mount Mansfield is a definite must. If you would prefer to save the trails for the daylight hours you can enjoy a lovely gondola ride that soars high above the snow below. In addition to Mount Mansfield, you can also enjoy Spruce Peak and Toll House.

Breckenridge Mountain
Offering you 146 trails of impressive ski trails, Breckenridge quickly becomes a favorite for anyone who tries out their runs. This mountain is also a huge favorite for snowboarders and Freeway Terrain Park is the envy of any other snowboard destination. Breckenridge receives well over 1.6 million skiers and boarders every year. Plus, the town of Breckenridge itself is another fantastic reason to come. Its historic buildings, shopping venues and fantastic dining establishments help make this a fantastic destination.

Mont Tremblant
As one of the best ski destinations in Canada, Mont Tremblant can be split into four areas - The Edge, Sunny Side and the North and South Sides. There is a mélange of trails for both boarders and skiers. Although a vacation here can get a bit pricey, it is worth experiencing. If you need a break from all of this glorious snow, Mont Tremblant is also only an hour away from Montreal, one of Canada's best cities.
